CCSO: On 02/01/2025, around 10:40 PM, North Coos dispatch received a frantic call from a female stated she was hiding in a vehicle from her boyfriend, Jeffrey A. Hathaway (38). The female claimed she was injured from a physical altercation and believed her ribs may be broken. Deputy Francis, along with Myrtle Point Police Officer Gilbert quickly responded to the scene, located at a county residence off Hwy 42 in Myrtle Point. Officer Gilbert arrived first on scene and was able to get the female to a safe location, away from the residence. Deputy Francis then arrived and interviewed the female to obtain further information on what occurred while Officer Gilbert located Jeffrey. The female stated she was removing her belongings from Jeffrey’s residence, when he forced her into his vehicle and they drove to Myrtle Point. The female claimed that when they returned to the residence, as she exited the vehicle, Jeffrey grabbed the hood of her sweatshirt dragging her back into the vehicle. The female stated when her sweatshirt was pulled, it tightened around her neck but she was able to break free after a couple seconds. The female then said, after breaking away, she attempted to flee to her vehicle but was tackled by Jeffrey. The female said when she was tackled, her head hit a nearby trailer and she also sustained an injury to her ribs. Deputy Francis observed visible injuries on the female, consistent with her statements and could see mud on the female’s clothing. Sgt. Slater arrived at Jeffrey’s residence and transported him over to Deputy Francis. Jeffrey did not supply his side of what occurred and was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Coos County Jail for the requested charges of Domestic Assault in the Fourth Degree and Strangulation.
