•••Man arrested after an incident involving a knife on Cape Arago Hwy near Lighthouse Way••• On March 13th, 2024, at 5:07 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a disturbance in progress involving a knife near the intersection of Cape Arago Hwy and Lighthouse Way. Several agencies initially responded for assistance, including the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Coos Bay Police, and Coquille Tribal Police. Upon arrival, Deputies found one man suffering from stab wounds. First aid was provided, and the victim was transported to Bay Area Hospital. Sgt. S. Moore headed up an investigation into the incident, culminating with Valerio Sandoval Jr. (66) being placed under arrest on charges of Assault II and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Valerio Sandoval Jr. (66) was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.
