CCSO PRESS RELEASE: On March 5th, 2024, around 4:31 am, Coos County Dispatch received an open 9-1-1 call with a female talking on the cell phone. The female was speaking incoherently while making threats to an unknown party. The call was plotted in the Sea Port RV Park in Charleston. While en route, Dispatch advised Deputy Z. Smith that it sounded like she was speaking to a dog and then knocking on a trailer door while yelling. When Deputy Smith arrived, he exited his vehicle to look for the female in question. Deputy Smith located the female in the RV park. He shined his flashlight on the woman, identifying himself to her as a Deputy with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. He recognized the female from a previous contact, and she later confirmed her identity as Victoria Ramsey (37), of Coos County. Victoria told Deputy Smith that she was going to stab him and sick her dog on him. Victoria advanced toward Deputy Smith from the front door of the trailer with a knife in her right hand. Victoria walked towards him as he drew his taser and backed behind the fence line of the trailer property. With his taser out, he ordered her to drop the knife several times. Victoria refused to comply and continued to advance towards him. Deputy Smith deployed his taser, which successfully incapacitated Victoria. She was taken into custody without further incident. Victoria was transported to the Coos County Jail, where she was booked and released for the crimes of Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Resisting Arrest. **CORRECTION** 3-11-24 Victoria was not incapacitated by the taser. Deputy Smith was able to get her to drop the knife using several more verbal commands. She resisted his efforts to place her under arrest, eventually being placed in handcuffs and secured in his patrol car. This writer apologies for the mistake in this initial release.
