CBPD: On February 6, 2025, at about 6:11 p.m., the Coos Bay Police Department responded to a reported fight in the Walmart parking lot at 2051 Newmark Ave in Coos Bay. When CBPD officers arrived, they found three men fighting and a crowd gathered outside one of the Walmart entrance doors. The crowd and two of the men reported that the third man, Andrew Orr, 32, of North Bend, assaulted a 19-year-old woman in the parking lot, and the two other men had intervened. CBPD officers discovered that Mr. Orr had intentionally attacked the woman, who was a stranger to him, in the parking lot and forced her to the ground. Before CBPD officers arrived, two male witnesses intervened and grabbed Mr. Orr off the victim. Mr. Orr was arrested and lodged at the Coos County Jail on the following charges: • Attempted rape in the first degree • Sex abuse in the third degree • Criminal Trespass in the second degree • Disorderly conduct in the second degree • Harassment • CBPD warrant charging probation violation on original charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants The CBPD recognizes and appreciates the citizen witnesses for their prompt intervention in this case, which positively impacted the outcome for the victim.
