•••(2) Coos Bay men were arrested on numerous charges for holding a man against his will for several hours over two days••• On September 20th, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a man who lives on Seven Devils Road near the South Slough Estuary. The caller reported a man had been assaulted and came to him for help. Deputies J. Lee and A. Burgo responded to the location and began conducting an investigation. Information obtained from the victim indicated he had been forcibly held against his will since September 19th using a firearm and knife. From Deputy Lee's investigation, two suspects were identified as Donald E. Bignell (29) and Terry J. Dewolf (32). It was also learned several crimes occurred during the past (24) hours in multiple law enforcement jurisdictions. Coos Bay Police Officer T. Smith responded and spoke with the victim about further crimes related to this case, which occurred in the City of Coos Bay. Deputies J. Gray and A. Burgo responded to 61807 Seven Devils Road, where they located the victim’s vehicle, which his attackers had previously stolen. Upon arrival, two men fled from the residence's rear into the woods. Coos County Sheriff’s Office K9 Cena responded to the location and conducted a criminal apprehension track for the men. After approximately two miles of tracking through dense vegetation, brush, and several creeks, K9 Cena found both men hiding under a rotten tree. The men were identified as Donald E. Bignell and Terry J. Dewolf. Both men were arrested without incident. Once back to the roadway, both men told officers on the scene they had ingested fentanyl. Both men were transported to Bay Area Hospital for medical clearance and then to the Coos County Jail on the following charges. Coos Bay Police Department Charges • Donald E.
