On March 28th, 2024, at 7:35 p.m., a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy was directing traffic at a crash scene when he was nearly struck by a vehicle that failed to stop. The Deputy successfully avoided being hit and was able to flag the man over. Once stopped, the vehicle operator, Jeffery B. Archer (62), had an open beer ¾ full in his drink holder and was irate with the Deputy. A record check revealed Mr. Archer was on supervised probation, with a no alcohol stipulation. After an investigation, Jeffery B. Archer (62) was arrested on the charge of probation violation and cited for an open container of alcohol. Mr. Archer was transported to the Reedsport jail, where he remains in custody.
