On January 28th, 2024, around 8:09 am, Coos County Dispatch received a 911 call for a disturbance at a residence on Sierra Road in Coos Bay. It was reported that Jason Patterson (22) was the suspect in the disturbance, and upon a records check, the Dispatchers located an active warrant for his arrest for a Probation Violation. Deputy M.R. Smith arrived at the residence and learned that Mr. Patterson had fled the area upon learning that Deputies were en route. During his investigation, Deputy Smith learned that Mr. Patterson had chased and threatened a relative in the residence with a two-inch knife. Mr. Patterson only stopped when the relative could take a defensive position in a locked room. Deputy M.R. Smith also obtained evidence that Mr. Patterson had been actively trying to sell a bolt-action rifle that he had been in possession of. Deputy Smith confirmed that Mr. Patterson is a convicted Felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms or other weapons. Deputy Smith concluded his investigation and left the residence to handle an unrelated matter. Sergeant J. Boswell and K9 Poe arrived to conduct a track for Mr. Patterson with assistance from Deputy B. Freerksen. The track lasted about an hour through thick brush and blackberry briars, ultimately consisting of a big loop leading back to the residence. Once back at the residence, Mr. Patterson was located and placed under arrest. Mr. Patterson was taken to the Coos County Jail for the Probation Warrant, menacing domestic violence, Unlawful use of a Weapon, and Felon in possession of a Firearm. Mr. Patterson was booked, processed, and remains in custody.
