The Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 9-year-old male who had been stabbed with a spear at a residence. It was initially reported that the boy’s sister had accidentally stabbed him during play. Investigation determined that the boy had been stabbed by his father, Levi Higgins-Green. The investigation also uncovered instances of domestic violence involving other adults and children in the home over a period of years. On August 31, 2026, Levi Higgins-Green pleaded guilty to Strangulation – Constituting Domestic Violence, Assault in the Third Degree, Assault in the Second Degree – Constituting Domestic Violence, Assault in the Third Degree (Second Count), Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree, Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree (Second Count), and Murder in the Second Degree. He was sentenced to 80 months for the first six charges and life in prison (minimum 25 years) for the murder charge, for a total minimum of 380 months.

Multiple outside agencies, including Eugene PD, are assisting CCSO as they make an arrest at the house where there was the death of a 9 year old boy a few days ago. The boy was stabbed in the chest with a spear and passed away before first responders made it to the scene. During the multiagency raid of the house on the Cape, deputies find out the suspect, Levi Higginsgreen, was at Walmart. Deputies arrive at Walmart and wait until the suspect exits the building, where they take him into custody without incident. The suspect is arrested for second degree murder
