Kyle R. Cox, using the Kik username "ride2live16," possessed three image files and three video files containing child pornography. At the urging of another Kik user "brbr468" (who was purporting to be a female engaged in sexual abuse of her two purported children), Cox transferred the material to that user. Between October 25 and 26, 2021, Cox provided the child pornography while engaging in sexually explicit conversation about sexual acts involving the minor children. An FBI investigation originated from a lead generated by an agent in Pennsylvania and was investigated by agents in Oregon. On March 4, 2024, when investigators contacted Cox, he disposed of a cellular device upon learning of the investigation but later met with investigators and was forthcoming about disposing of the phone and the events. Cox has entered into a plea agreement to plead guilty to possession of child pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 2252A(a)(5)(B) and (b)(2). He will be required to register as a sex offender.
