Dog at large near Devereaux Center belonging to fugitive sex offender Gene Massey. CBPD reports he was kicked out of his pallet house in Coalbank Village yesterday and was last seen near Wendy's last night. CBPD arrested Massey in Bunker Hill under the Coalbank Slough Bridge at 10:20 am, CCJ advised they would accept, but called back when officer was halfway to Coquille and said they would not accept. So Massey was driven back to Coos Bay and released back into the wild.

CBPD out with sex offender at his "home" at Devereaux Center's Coalbank Village. Gene Massey has extraditable warrants out of Idaho, CCJ says they will book and release which will be the second time this week.

Reports of woman on bike weaving in and out of traffic. CBPD identifies her as Wendy Massey who has a warrant out of Idaho for probation violation. Her husband who is at "home" at the Devereaux Center's Coalbank Village also has a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. Both are arrested and transported to CCJ, but the jail is unsure whether they can lodge them so they can be extradited. So they might just be released in Coquille. CBPD described Gene Massey as an "armed career criminal" and didn't feel comfortable detaining him until there were 3 squad cars present (yes they actually waited for the 3rd to arrive). However the sheriff's office seems to believe they are safe to be out on the street. UPDATE: Wendy was lodged, Gene was booked and released.

According to an entry on the CBPD log for Aug. 12, 11:02 a.m., 3440 Ocean Blvd., Domino’s Pizza, “recovered stolen vehicle,” 45-year old Gene William Massey arrested on Kootenai Co. warrant charging Probation Violation & additional warrants on file; also, 54-year old Wendy Racquel Massey arrested on Kootenai warrant charging Probation Violation on Possession of Controlled Substance, “subjects booked at Coos Co. Jail.
