•••Powers man arrested on the charge of Murder II after a dispute at Mill••• On October 13th, 2023, at 11:50 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received several 911 calls reporting a disturbance in progress at Rose City Wood Products located at 49024 Hwy 242, Broadbent, Oregon. Several law enforcement agencies responded, and upon arrival, the victim, Mearl W. McDaniel (81) of Powers, was found deceased from Homicidal Violence. The suspect was identified as the victims' grandson, Robert T. McDaniel (39) of Powers. Robert T. McDaniel was arrested on the charge of Murder II and was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody. The Major Crimes Team was activated to investigate the incident, which is ongoing.
