On February 12th, 2024, around 12:15 am, Coos County Dispatch received a report of someone trespassing at a residence on North Bay Road in North Bend. The reporting party stated that the property was being cared for by their family while the owner was away. Deputy K. Mong responded to investigate. Deputy Mong contacted the reporting party and learned that Eric Barry (34) was observed on camera entering the property and had not yet left. Deputy Mong arrived at the property, and while walking to the residence, he observed Mr. Barry running away from the house. The door to the residence was open, and lights were on. Deputy Mong requested cover units to respond and a K9 unit to locate Mr. Barry. Sergeant S. Moore and North Bend Officer T. Sanne responded to secure the perimeter while Sergeant A. Slater and K9 Cena searched for Mr. Barry. After approximately 10 minutes, K9 Cena located Mr. Barry, and he was taken into custody. Deputy Mong continued investigating and located numerous boxes stacked at the front of the residence with the personal property of the homeowners. Mr. Barry was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail for Burglary in the 1st degree and attempted theft. Mr. Barry was booked, processed, and remains in custody.
