On January 15th, 2024 the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center took a report of a man stealing gas from vehicles parked in the lot at Bower’s Trucking located at 60646 Hwy 101, Coos Bay, Oregon. After being noticed by an employee, the suspect fled from the area on foot, leaving his vehicle at the scene. Deputy Z. Smith arrived on the scene and recognized the vehicle belonging to Robert Mayea (56), whom he had arrested on an unrelated case last week. Deputy Z. Smith called Robert's phone number, and the phone inside the vehicle rang. Sgt. Boswell and K9 Poe responded to the scene to conduct a criminal apprehension track to locate Robert. After an extensive track through thick mud, swamp water, and brush, the team could not find Mr. Mayea. On January 16th, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Deputy Z. Smith went to Mr. Mayea’s residence and located him leaving the area. Mr. Mayea was arrested on Criminal Trespass II, Theft III, and Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle. Robert Mayea (56) was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and released.

•••Deputies arrest a man on probable cause from the Coquille Police Department on Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Theft II••• On January 9th, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., the Coquille Police Department contacted Deputy Z. Smith to assist in identifying a suspect in a large Fraud / Theft case. Deputy Z. Smith and Sgt. S. Moore recognized the individual from the photo provided as Robert V. Mayea (55). Deputy Z. Smith and Sgt. S. Moore contacted Robert, who confessed to the crimes. Robert V. Mayea (55) was arrested on Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card & Theft II charges, and was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and later released on his own recognizance.
