On February 13, 2023, at 4:43 p.m. Deputies Mong and Baker responded to a report of a burglary which had just occurred off North Coos River Hwy. The victim contacted the Coos County Sheriff’s Dispatch and stated he observed a man on his construction site, later identified as Patrick Freehill, crawling out of a hole of a residence under construction, where the plumbing went through. The victim stated the hole had been previously been covered by plywood which had been pushed in for Mr. Freehill to gain access to the house. The victim confronted the suspect (Freehill) who subsequently yelled "he is here. We got to go". The victim said he then saw another person leave from inside the residence. Both subjects fled from the residence in a black Nissan pick-up driving back towards the city of Coos Bay. The victim was able to take photographs of the suspects and provide their vehicle description to deputies while en-route to the location. Due to the victim’s quick thinking, Sgt. Clayburn located the vehicle near the Coach House restaurant and conducted a traffic stop. Patrick Freehill and John Langley were both inside the pick-up. After speaking with Mr. Freehill and Mr. Langley about the incident they were both placed under arrest. Mr. Langley, and Mr. Freehill were transported to the Coos County Jail on the charges of burglary I, criminal trespass II, and criminal mischief III.
