Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies responded to a home on Hamilton Avenue in North Bend after a report of dogs chasing children in the neighborhood. When officers attempted to contact Kile Elder and issue a citation, he released the dogs, pulled a crossbow on officers, and fled into the residence. This led to a standoff involving the Coos County Emergency Response Team, who used distraction bangs, drones, and verbal commands. After several hours, less-lethal rounds were deployed, and Elder came out and was taken into custody. He was arrested on multiple charges but later released from jail. No one was harmed.
