On April 24, 2024, a residence at North Ten Mile Lake was burglarized. The suspect forcibly entered by cutting through two gates and the side of the residence with a Sawzall, stealing various items. Game camera images identified Kile Elder, 28, and his vehicle as involved. Investigation by Coos County Sheriff's Office deputies, including Sergeant J. Clayburn and Deputy R. Baker, led to the discovery of stolen goods at Elder's property in Douglas County. Probable cause for arrest was established. On May 11, 2024, around 8:00 pm, Elder was located at a Hamilton Avenue address in North Bend. Sergeant Clayburn apprehended him, recovered additional stolen property, and arrested him for first-degree burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and an outstanding Lane County warrant. Elder was booked into the Coos County Jail.
