CBPD responded to a burglary in progress at 922 N 9th St and found 4 bums inside. All were trespassed from that property and the property next door (930 N 9th). Andrew Eastep was taken to CCJ on Oregon State Parole Board warrant charging Parole Violation on Arson charge, but was released after booking. •••A report of a suspicious man and woman trespassing onto several properties resulted in the arrest of a man with an outstanding warrant••• On December 27th, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 report of a suspicious man and woman entering properties near Libby Lane and Rice Road. The woman was reported to be pushing a wheelbarrow, and both subjects were reported to have taken items not belonging to them. Sgt. A. Slater responded to the location and located both subjects at a residence on Libby Lane near Noah Road. Both subjects were identified, and the man initially gave law enforcement a false name. The man was eventually identified as Andrew W. Eastep (30) of Coos Bay. Mr. Eastep had a valid warrant for arrest from the Parole Board in Salem. The warrant was confirmed, and Mr. Eastep was placed under arrest. An investigation into the original trespass and theft call is ongoing. Andrew W. Eastep (30) was transported to the Coos County Jail on an outstanding warrant, where he was booked and remains in custody.

The Oregon State Police arrested two people in their twenties for setting a structure on fire near Highway 101 in Coos County on Saturday. The fire was reported at an unoccupied dwelling just off State Highway 101 on Saturday. After the fire was extinguished, several suspicious factors were found proceeding the fire. An investigation determined the fire to be incendiary and intentionally set. The Oregon State Police Arson Unit investigated, and with the assistance of the Coos County Sheriff's Office, they discovered that 26-year-old Andrew Eastep and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Breanna Schuster, were possible responsible for setting the fire. After interviewing both of them, the two admitted to stealing several items from the residence and property days before setting it on fire. Both Eastep and Schuster were taken into custody and charged with Burglary in the First Degree, Arson in the First Degree and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.
